To communicate with relatives and friends or coworkers and customers, you do not have to solely use a single pc or even be tied down to a single location. There are many options these days through mobile email solutions that have created environments that can take your business or personal email with you wherever you are. The trick is making sure that you are using mobile email effectively and not just using mobile email.

Many email hosting solutions these days offer a wide range of options for a customer to access email. Regular email is accessed through a browser or an application on a computer. Mobile email, however, is accessed through a handheld device. This does not imply that the user's ability to interact with that email is more limited than the other methods. In fact, a user can easily read, delete, and respond to the messages as if it were on a regular computer, but now, with mobile email options, there are more ways for the user to stay connected at all times.

Some email hosting providers offer new solutions and benefits to mobile email users to make things even more convenient, but you must be aware of these options and have the phone properly set up to take advantage of them. For example, some providers offer a "new mail" alert that they will send to a user whenever a new message arrives. However, if your phone or other device is not set up to accept these alerts, you will not be able to take advantage of this particular convenience.

Mobile email can also allow you to do more than just send messages. You can easily sync your handheld device to your computer and take advantage of all the other options that the email solution provides. This includes shared messages, calendars, and contacts lists.

Part of using mobile email effectively, though, is knowing when to quit. Just because you can take your email everywhere, doesn't necessarily mean you should. After all, sometimes you just have to get away from the office for a while. And in those circumstances the continuous emails from customers or employees with all their little problems can drive you up the wall. It's important to know where to draw the line - where the real problems are and what problems can wait. Set your mobile email to allow certain emails (like purchase orders, expense reports, requisitions, etc) and to leave those emails that are less important for another day. When you can make that distinction, mobile email will always feel like a benefit rather than a burden.
